Description

These fish are painted by Kawahara Keiga. He travelled with researcher Philipp Franz von Siebold through Japan from 1823 to 1829. Von Siebold collected many nature and cultural related historical objects from the impenetrable Japan during that time for the West. The illustrations of Keiga are not only beautiful , but also very detailed. Therefore, they are of great scientific importance for the research on biology.

This design is part of our Natural History collection, In collaboration with Naturalis Biodiversity Center in The Netherlands, and various (inter) national museums, and archives, Wall Candy presents a unique and contemporary wallpaper collection taken from real historical artworks that inspire interior design, and have done for centuries.
